The best way to keep up to date with Bingham Town FC

'Remember Alex'

9 months ago By Stephen Gormley

Two little words, one massive response

For most teams at the football club, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th was the opening weekend of the season. This opening weekend of the season was also the time when we all came together – Over 500 players – as one brilliant club to remember one of our young players, Alex Munn, who sadly passed away over the summer.

Alex played for the U9s last season and, over the summer, was tragically diagnosed with leukaemia. After an all too brief battle Alex lost his fight in July.

As is fit and proper for a club with the community right at our very heart, when we lose one of our own, we come together to show Alex's family that we care.

On behalf of the committee, Rob Harwood – Chairman of Bingham Town FC, sent a message out to all the teams to hold either a minute’s silence or applause in Alex's memory. On Saturday 9th just prior to 10.30 KO time, there was a very moving moment around Butt Field as applause rang out from the various games that were about to kick off.

Football is a great game with a great community spirit that comes together at times like this. Bingham Town FC teams from U7s right through to the Bingham Town first team showed we cared.
