Thrilling A52 Derby!
By Alan Gupwell
Radcliffe 3 - Bingham 2
Wow what a thrilling Division One local derby down the A52.
Radcliffe took an early lead but Bingham fought back and after Sophie McInnes made a super save, Bingham forced a corner and as skipper Natasha Gupwell floated one in Bella Davies added another goal to her tally this season.
1 - 1 at the break and end to end stuff from both teams, new wing back Lucy McKenzie played well in front of Nancy Millar who had plenty to do with fellow defenders Grace Brooks, Grace Kelly and Danyella Johnson in great form to keep Radcliffe at bay.
In the middle Paige Owen Jones worked hard and took some great throw ins to pile the pressure onto Radcliffe.
In the second half it was more of the same, with both sides pushing forward, in attack Ellie-Mae Harper, Bella Davies, Chloe Sheldon and Chloe Derrivan all had shots on goal, but it was Radcliffe who again took the lead.
Bingham kept pushing and despite some great saves eventually the pressure told a Chloe Sheldon corner was prodded in by Natasha Gupwell. Bingham thought they had done enough to get a point but Radcliffe attacked and scored what turned out to be the winner.
A great game played in a sporting way by both teams and supporters.
Girl of the match Chloe Derrivan, Parents Player Sophie McInnes.
