A blue day!

After a good win and a disappointing draw against RHP Colts last season, the Blues looked forward to getting stuck into the Colts again...only to find out the hard way that they had assembled a far stronger side this season. Despite the valiant efforts of Ollie, Henry, Toby and Ben, the shots rained in on goal and Paul did a fantastic job saving all but one of them in the first half, with a little help from the post. Josh G, Ashley and Joe battled hard in midfield to move the ball forward but found it difficult to penetrate a very solid Colts’ midfield and defence. The first half ended 1-0.
With Josh K in goal for the second half, he was tested very early on with a great save. Again, Colts piled on the pressure and some brave challenges caused some injuries that would keep our one substitute circulating constantly. Tom and Zak pushed forward at every opportunity, giving Colts’ defenders no time on the ball. Zak in particular really got stuck in to try to take the ball off the Colts’ players. After 20 minutes Josh K made the save of the match with a brilliant fingertip save which just pushed the ball past the goal. Some great tackling from Ben followed by several quickly taken throw-ins, had Nick pushing forward, forcing Colts to concede a corner kick in possibly out best spell of the match. However, the Colts’ superior play resulted in some fantastic goals, which Josh had no chance of saving. To rub salt in the wound, we conceded a very harsh late penalty kick and the game ended 8-0 to Colts.
Blues Man of the Match was Ben for some great tackling and passing and lots of energy.
