Bingham Ladies v Sherwood Ladies - League Cup

By Steve Kilduff

Match Report - Marika Wolfe

Today, Bingham Ladies played their 3rd game of the season against Sherwood, in the league cup at home. After playing the previous games and having the lost out the ladies were determined today to prove that they can play some great football! Every single player today gave it their all and worked extremely hard for the whole 90 minutes! The ladies played some tremendous football at times during today’s game and the first goal came from a combination of play starting all the way back in defence, with the end goal being scored by Laura Miles. The ladies confidence was a lot more visible today and they were comfortable on the ball and were able to play the ball around the opposition. The defence played amazingly today and stayed as one unit throughout the game. We also welcomed our temporary goal keeper today, Liz who made some great saves during today’s game! The second half started 1-0 to Bingham and after about 60 minutes the Katie Sharman scored our second goal of the game. Shortly after this Sherwood came back with a goal, however were unable to score anymore. Bingham had numerous other chances and even had a shot at goal cleared off the line by Sherwood. Bingham Ladies managed to hang on until the end and ended with their first win of the season today. It has been a long time coming, but the ladies really deserved the win today and I am proud to be part of such a hardworking, encouraging and supportive team. keep it up next week Ladies, Well done!
