Heavy away loss
By Russ Gibbs
'Bouncebackability' not in evidence!
Not much to say about this one as it was something of a horror show from pre-match til the end. Sometimes you just get a feeling it's not going to be your day.
Couldn't park in the car park and took 5 minutes to turn around and get out again.
Parked on road, walked half mile round loads of college buildings to pitch.
Discovered car was now about 100 yards away and we should have just climbed over the fence.
Sloping pitch had a running track over it and a 9-a-side marked out inside it. Pick a touchline, any touchline.
No time for warm up.
Quite a few defenders missing, coaches expertly moved the wrong players out of position to cover this.
Half the girls seemed a bit out of sorts, conceded a soft goal.
Opposition player kicks ground instead of ball with no one near her, trips herself up. Coaches on both teams and both linos agree on this.
Ref awards free kick anyway. Free kick goes in top corner.
H/T Mansfield 2 - 0 Bingham.
Start second half brightly, concede another soft one on the counter attack.
Then three more, all avoidable.
Diesel takes a tumble. Suspected broken wrist. Off to A&E.
Anna G scores a good goal for BTFC after a short corner is laid back to her.
Ref adds no time on for the injury to Diesel, just as we were pressing for a second consolation goal. No one really minds.
F/T Mansfield 6 - 1 Bingham.
Mansfield were Market Warsop were Welbeck Welfare. We've had plenty of close games with them and shared a few victories each. They're a decent team and a good set of coaches. Nothing for us to worry about here, it was one of those days and we'll enjoy the lie in this weekend with no match then come back for the first round of the Cup.
Hopefully Diesel has not broken anything and it's just heavy bruising.
BTFC Player of the Match was Katy. Grafted hard as always and amused us with her new hair colour, which is definitely not ginger, it's light brown, honest.
