Second home win
A tough battle
As I was on duty elsewhere, unless one of our BTFC Ultras gives us a match report this bare bones description will have to do.
Before Sunday we knew that the Bingham team would be without Evie (defence and back-up 'keeper), Katy (midfielder and last season's PotY), Drew (another tough tackler) and Eleanor (currently on match day hiatus, also midfield). This left us a little light but still with a few options. Then Pip (no.1 goalkeeper and team mascot) went down with the stinking cold that's been doing the rounds. So now, as well as being light in midfield we were now asking for volunteers to go in goal.
Hykeham were an unknown quantity to us, having only joined the Notts league this season. Welcome to their players, coaches and parents.
Beyond these facts, I know that Mia went in goal in the first half, Anna G scored (again) from Lauren's corner, and at half time it was BTFC 1 - 0 Hykeham.
In the second half, Elisabeth went in goal. Mia doubled the lead for Bingham before Elisabeth was judged to have fouled the Hykeham striker while coming out to claim the ball, and a penalty was given to the visitors. Although Elisabeth got a hand to the spot kick she was unable to keep the ball from crossing the line. A tense finale ensued and Bingham held on to win in a good battling performance. Full time: Bingham Town 2 - 1 Hykeham Tigers.
Bingham's Player of the Match was Lauren, for running her little legs off for the full 70 minutes.
