We pride ourselves on being a family orientated Community football club and what a perfect example we have here - The Coopers - keeping it in the family by winning the same award for their respective teams on Presentation Day.
Esther is the backbone of our ladies team - the unsung hero who is essential in every team; the one who has no particular off the field role and yet without her the team would not be the team it is on and off the field. Both mum and son won the 'Clubman award' for their respective teams.
This award, to me as Chairman, is one of the most important awards as it it not always given to the most obvious person - the leading goal scorer, the best tackler etc. The 'Clubman' award should always be the person who is the backbone of the team, the joker, the one who picks others up when they're down, the one who helps to set up the training session - the willing volunteer. These type of people are often the future leaders of the club and their contribution needs to be recognised and celebrated.
So, our congratulations go to The Coopers - keep making things happen for your teams this coming season and, most importantly, keep having fun and enjoying playing for Bingham Town FC.
