After lots of hard work the girls secured their first win of the season. After a draw with Burton Joyce and a narrow one goal loss to Lowdham in the two previous matches, the team seemed to be getting to grips with the 9-a-side format and the larger pitches.
Bingham started the game well, creating lots of pressure, and took the lead early thanks to a very strong run and shot by Alisha. She doubled the lead in the first half with a very similar effort, and continued to cause the Hucknall girls all kinds of problems. At one stage it looked as though Bingham might run away with the match, but the third goal proved elusive.
In the second half, Hucknall pulled one back with another good shot that gave Isabelle no chance. Bingham had no substitutes and as the half began to wear on started to tire, but still looked a threat on the break thanks to Louise who held the ball up really well, and Miley who never stopped running on the right wing. Erin, Alisha and Harriet all worked very hard in the middle of the pitch, with Ruby, Tallulah and Lily chasing everything at the back. Although she couldn't do anything about the goal, Isabelle handled everything else that came her way confidently, taking the pressure off her defenders.
After giving the parents a few heart flutters (work on those goal kick routines, girls!) Bingham held on to record a deserved victory. Alisha was the BTFC Player of the Match. Newark Town away is next on 4th November.
